Using Second

These terms apply to the Second hosted service and its companion apps, extensions, CLI, and integrations, maintained by thedevdavid. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. You must be able to enter an agreement under the laws that apply to you, and have authority to act for anyone whose content you provide.

Your account and connected tools

Provide accurate account information and protect your password, passkeys, API tokens, and devices. You are responsible for the tools you authorize and the actions they perform within your permissions. Inspect connected-app access, use the narrowest permissions appropriate to your task, and revoke access when it is no longer needed. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized use.

Your content

You retain your rights in the content you provide. You give Second permission to store, copy, process, transmit, and display that content as needed to provide the features you use, including synchronization, extraction, search, AI processing, export, and integrations. This does not transfer ownership of your content to Second.

Only save or share content you are authorized to use. Access to a website, conversation, or file does not automatically grant permission to reproduce it or send it to an AI service. You are responsible for permissions relating to other people’s personal information and third-party intellectual property.

AI results and external services

AI suggestions, answers, Briefs, transcripts, and extracted content can be incomplete or incorrect. Review important outputs and their sources before relying on them. They are not a substitute for qualified professional advice.

A connected host may not expose a complete transcript, selected reply, or original file. A save receipt describes the material Second received, not unseen material in another app. External AI hosts, app stores, and integrations have their own terms, charges, availability, and data practices. Revoke access in Second and manage existing copies with those providers separately.

Acceptable use

Do not use Second for unlawful activity, infringement, harassment, malware, unauthorized access, or attempts to bypass another person’s permissions. Do not interfere with service security, overwhelm the service, or evade rate limits. We may restrict access or suspend an account when reasonably needed to address abuse, security risks, or legal requirements.

Beta availability and pricing

The current beta does not charge a subscription fee. The pricing page describes proposed Free and Pro tiers, prices, and purchase terms; Pro checkout and trials are not available yet. Beta access does not automatically enroll you in a paid plan, and usage recording does not create a bill. Final prices and allowances will be published before purchase. Existing beta users will receive 30 days’ notice before public Free limits are introduced. Rate limits, file limits, provider capacity, and platform restrictions apply.

Features and distribution differ across platforms. A source release or development build does not mean an app is publicly available in an app store. We may change or discontinue features, and beta features may have interruptions or defects. We do not promise uninterrupted service, permanent storage, or a particular future feature. Keep exports of information that matters to you.

Planned trials, subscriptions, and refunds

The planned web Pro trial lasts 14 days, requires a payment method, and is limited to one trial per Second account, subject to provider eligibility. Unless canceled before the trial ends, it becomes the monthly or annual subscription selected at checkout. Annual billing charges the full annual amount at once. Prices exclude applicable taxes unless checkout states otherwise. These are proposed launch terms, not an offer to start a trial today.

The planned subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Web subscriptions are managed through Settings → Plan & usage; Apple subscriptions are managed with Apple. Cancel renewal before the trial or paid term ends to avoid the next charge. Paid access continues through the paid term. The planned first paid web charge is fully refundable on request within 14 days; renewal refunds are reviewed case by case. Apple handles Apple refunds. Mandatory rights still apply.

Planned paid allowances reset monthly on both monthly and annual billing. The allowance policy purchased is preserved for the full paid term, with reductions only at a later renewal after notice. There are no automatic overage charges in the planned offer. After expiry or exhaustion, existing content remains readable and exportable. Exceeding storage limits may block additions or edits that increase storage, while reading, export, deletion, and reductions remain available.

The proposed founder offer is web-only, with 24 months of price protection from the first successful paid charge, followed by 25% off the then-current standard Pro price while continuously eligible. It is not a lifetime fixed price. See the pricing page for continuity, renewal, and notice conditions. Final founder prices, enrollment dates, and purchase terms must be confirmed before enrollment opens.

Complimentary invitations and account access

Complimentary access is issued individually by a Second administrator. A single-use invitation is redeemed on the website by a signed-in account with a verified email; it may be restricted to a recipient or have a redemption deadline. Claimed access belongs to that account and has no scheduled expiry or recurring payment. It includes premium capabilities with no plan usage caps, while technical limits, service availability, and acceptable-use requirements still apply.

An invitation’s redemption deadline does not set an expiry for claimed access. Grants can be revoked by an administrator and do not transfer automatically to another account. Complimentary access does not create a store purchase, cancel a subscription, or issue a refund. Any existing provider subscription must be managed separately.

Export, deletion, and ending use

You can stop using Second, disconnect integrations, export your library, or delete your account through Settings. Archive is reversible storage; permanent deletion and account reset are different actions and may not be recoverable. Derived search data and stored objects may be cleaned up asynchronously.

Deleting Second content or revoking a connection does not delete copies already held by another service, an export, or a device. Integration sync does not propagate permanent deletions. Existing generated outputs may retain text derived from a deleted source until you edit or delete those outputs.

Resetting workspace data keeps the account and its access and billing records. A reset does not cancel a subscription with another provider. Signing out also does not delete your account or copies of your content.

Service limitations and your rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Second is provided as available, without a warranty that it will be error-free or fit every purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes rights, remedies, or liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
